| The 2003 version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre adheres to the pure and simple slasher movie formula: Introduce a gaggle of sexy young people, make vague gestures to distinguish them--Jessica Biel (Summer Catch) wants to get married and doesn't like pot, so she's our moral compass--then start hacking them to pieces one by one. The visual palette includes grimy crucified dolls, fly-specked pig carcasses, body parts floating in murky jars, a tobacco-chewing redneck sheriff, and many slender beams of sunlight cutting through dank, dusty interiors. The camera lovingly photographs Biel's tank-topped bosom and sculpted abs as she's running in terror from a bloated, chainsaw-wielding, human-skin-wearing maniac. This remake lacks the macabre comedy of the original; it's all about the nauseating sensation of waiting for something to jump out of the dark. Also featuring Eric Balfour (Six Feet Under) and R. Lee Ermey (Full Metal Jacket, Mail Call). --Bret Fetzer |

I love this movie!!! I think this is the best horror remake that has been made so far. I love the cast...they all do amazing jobs at pulling you into the story & making you believe this is actually happening to them. I think the writing is fantastic, the casting as I said, the setting is gorgeous...I love the dirty Southern feel the film has to it. You can definitely tell it's set in Texas. I remember seeing this movie on Halloween when it was released in theaters & it kept me on the edge of my seat & I couldn't look away...it still does that to me when I watch it even though I've seen it so many times. There's a few twists & the chase scenes are great & it also has just the right amount of gore. Out of all of the horror remakes that have been released the past few years, some okay & some just horrible, this one is actually a really great movie. I felt like they stuck to the original story but took it to a whole other level. What technology & budget wouldn't allow for in the original is definitely made up in this installment. I actually enjoyed it more than the original but that's just my opinion.
I love this special edition. The packaging is really cool. It folds out like a chainsaw to reveal 2 discs, one with the film & one with bonus features, as well as an envelope that includes several photographs of the evidence collected at the "crime scene" which is shown at the beginning of the film & at the end of the film. It also comes with a really cool tin metal cover to add to your collection & it all comes for a great price so this is a really good deal. I definitely recommend this movie & this special edition DVD to any horror fan. |

| This Is One Hell Of A Horror Film!!! I have to say too that the acting was very good, though I wonder how hard it is to fake fear when you see some of the scenarios the actors were in, but even the background actors (especially the actor portraying Leatherface and the wonderful R. Lee Ermey as the sheriff) are very good and add an element of paranoid fear to the film. The thing that shocked me most was how brutal and graphic the film was, the gore being very realistic, and used very well. Instead of buckets of blood, we get moments of horror that end in a very bright splash of red. And like the first, the most brutal killings are shot in a way so that you see what is happening to the victim but yet DON'T see it at the same time. This is not a perfect film. It is too decadently dark and a lot of people will hate the film for that reason, and it will be hard to see this as being a movie you will want to watch over and over and over again. But in saying that, I admit that that is why the film succeeds so well - they nailed the mood perfectly. They didn't grave-rob it from the original but created their own. As a horror fan I cannot recommend this film enough. It stands just behind 28 Days Later as the second best horror film in a year that has turned out pretty darned well for the genre. Yes, it is a remake, and yes, the original is better, but having said that, I also must tell you that this is a very well crafted horror film and a wonderful spook show ride. I dunno if I am happy that it is going to do well at the box office or not (it won the box office battle its opening weekend) because I don't know what that means for all the other propose remakes. But if nothing else, at least they didn't screw this one up. |

| Now this was a really good and scary film because Leather face is so scary in this one but in the classic it wasn't scary because it was just mostly laughable and not good at all and this one is a really scary film and also I liked the beginning too because that was also really scary and well done and this film is ten times more scary then the classic because the classic was like comedy and this one is like horror which is really good, Also this is the number one scary film in year's and it was so good, This is a must see. |

On August 1973, in Texas, Erin, her boy-friend Kemper, their friends Andy and Morgan and the hitchhiker Pepper are returning from a vacation in Mexico having been to a Lynnard Skynnard concert. Kemper is driving when a disturbed young woman dangerously wanders onto the road. They decide to help her, and the woman commits suicide inside the vehicle. They decide to look for a telephone to call the Sheriff, and they end in the house of Thomas Hewitt, where their lives are threatened by the sick Leatherface and his deranged family. This is a very good horror movie. Well-filmed, well-acted, suspensful, with good characters. While not a classic, this remake is worth seeing.
