How long will Tooth White lightening last?

The Tooth White lightening consequences of different bleaching strategies can go on for one or two years, but this varies from individual to individual. Research on dentist prescribed “home” bleaching treatment has found that for folks who achieved awhiter shade, only half of them still had nicer teeth six months later. Your eating, drinking, smoking and brushing habits may have arepercussion on how long these Tooth White treatments last.

It’s important to keep in mind that bleaching doesn’t always result in the whiteness that you predict. The results alter from person to person and depend on the shade of your teeth before bleaching. For that reason, it’s important to chat about all the possible options for improving the appearance of your teeth with your dentist before you decide on the Tooth White treatment for you.

Special considerations

There are some examples when a dentist may counsel that you do not have bleaching. As an example, if you have tooth rot, this is going to be treated before starting any Tooth White lightening treatments. Similarly, your gums should be healthy, so if you have any gum illness this is going to be handled.

If your teeth are intensely receptive to hot and cold food or drinks, bleaching may not be advocated because to obtain that Tooth White grin, adegree of sensitiveness might have to be endured.

Some types of staining ( eg tetracycline antibiotic staining ) doesn’t respond to bleaching as well as others. Bleaching, if successful, may take longer on tetracycline tarnished teeth.

Bleaching isn’t typically endorsed for children whose teeth are still developing or for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Deciding on treatment

There is no evidence to suggest that Tooth White bleaching is dangerous to the gums, but itis not clear what the long-term effect on the nerves and arteries within the teeth are.

All dental treatment carries a risk of complications, which are the unwelcome, but mostly non permanent aftermath of a successful treatment. Side-effects include non-permanent sensitiveness of the teeth to cold and warm, a sore throat, tender gums and white patches on the gums. These complications should disappear after a couple of days. Contact your dentist if the symptoms endure.
